Things to Do

The start of an adventure...

With so much to do and see in this holiday hot-spot, it is little wonder Scarborough was named the UK’s second most visited place after London and here at the Esplanade we’re always on hand to make sure you don't miss a thing.

Visit Scarborough Castle

The walk up might be a little steep, but it is worth it for the views alone. Inside discover more than 3,000 years of history and a great family day out.

See a show at the Spa

During the summer there are regular concerts in the Sun Court and if you can, catch one of the traditional music spectaculars masterminded by former Red Coat Tony Peers.

Make a splash at Alpamare

For watery thrills and spills visit one of Scarborough's newest attractions, featuring four slides, splash and play area, infinity pool and a wave machine which erupts every 30 minutes.

Hit the surf

With great waves all year, head to Cayton Bay, where the team at Scarborough Surf School will have you riding the waves like a pro in no time at all.

Visit Sea Life

Latest attractions include a giant Japanese spider crab, a small but mighty reef lobster and a peacock mantis shrimp which has one of the fastest punches on the planet!

Walk through Peasholm Park

This is a little slice of the orient in Scarborough’s North Bay. First opened in 1912 it’s now home to a beautiful boating lake and a pitch and putt course.

Go to an open air gig

Billed as Yorkshire's answer to the Hollywood Bowl, check out Scarborough's Open Air Theatre where the likes of Noel Gallagher and Britney Spears have performed.

Wykeham Lakes

Head to North Yorkshire Water Park

Just six miles from the centre of Scarborough, take on a giant inflatable obstacle course. Built in the middle of the picturesque Wykeham Lakes it's family, watery fun.
